The last days of Summer
August 28, 2006 on 11:10 am | In Travel news, Home | No CommentsWell it looks like summer is about to depart the northern hemisphere for this year. It was only a short one… only about 8 or 9 weeks of great weather. After a winter that seemed to last for 6 or 7 months, it was a welcome relief.
People were smiling, kids were playing, beer was disappearing (down the throat!)… all was well with the world.
But then the law of averages came to greet us… The clouds reappeared, the rain started falling and people started throwing on layers. And people started to frown. I can understand it. London is beautiful during Summer. But winter is enough to send you balmy… well… English!
Anyway… I have recovered somewhat from the 2 weddings and the obligatory liver killing drinking sessions and am falling back into normality. As much as only I can! Except for the nights out with Drew, Lou and Liz. They tend to end up with lots of alcohol being consumed and me crashing on the floor or the couch.
Although their was the night after work when I was uncerimoniously dragged out into the metropolis of Guildford (it is in Surrey near Woking, west of London if your are looking at a map). Of course I didn’t really wish to participate but being the generous person I am I ended spending the night consuming way too much in way too short a timeframe. I ended up passing out on a friends couch at 2 am. The next day was quite funny as I turned up unshaven, dressed in the same clothes. Teach me to go out on a school night!
Anyway… I have to go and rest up and make the lost of the last long weekend until Christmas.
All the best…
