Amster Damn… it was wet!

Last week I managed to get to the city of red lights, women in windows wearing little and where the coffee shops sell products to let you mellow out.

Amsterdam…

The only problem is that the weather spoilt the show. It was pouring with rain so the ladies just closed the curtains and went home. Except for the really BIG girls that looked like they could curdle milk just by looking at it!

So myself and an American colleague went in search of a restaurant that served decent meat. We stumbled across a restaurant named Gaucho’s. Here you order your steak and the chef slices it the half a chopped cow in the kitchen (which is in the middle of the restaurant), slaps it on the grill and hey presto, you are eating the most delicious 300g of Argentine steak available… YUMMM!

It certainly ranks in my top 5 steak meals… But that is a story for another day!

Guten Tag from Frankfurt

Hello!!!

Well I am in Frankfurt and having a great time with my course.  The team that I am with is fantastic and love to tell it how it is!  Something I really enjoy hearing.  It is so refreshing to be in a work environment where people enjoy receiving feedback from others and more importantly, feel comfortable enough to give feedback…  Mostly people are too scared to say what they think and are too afraid they will offend someone.

Well enough of that…

Frankfurt is lovely, as usual, but it is wet, windy and FREEZING!!!! We did not get the snow I was hoping for but they are now saying that it is going to be one of the warmest weeks in November on record. :(

 I WANT SNOW DAMMIT!!!!!  :D

I am going on a night tour on thursday so hopefull i shall have a few photos to post here soon…  Well there will be some as I am off the Dublin on friday with Drew to watch the Wallabies take on the Irish…  GO WALLABIES!

Talk soon and keep warm and well.

 Cheers

Wardy

Frankenfurter!!!

I am off to my current second home, Frankfurt, for another week of work. Frankfurt is the German finance capital and quite a lovely city. There is a bit of the old town still around (after it was pretty much flattened during the war) but the new buildings look great.

After that I go spend the weekend with the Paddys in Dublin… To watch the Wallabies!!! :) Let’s hope that the buggers win!

Oh… yeah… they are predicting snow in Frankfurt on Tuesday! Keep those fingers crossed!!

BA - Bloody Annoying?

October 16, 2006 on 9:37 pm | In Travel news, Work | 2 Comments

Last week I had the privilege of flying to Frankfurt for a training course. And as usual lately I chose to fly BA: an airline that I have been very impressed with. But as luck would have it, that came crashing to the ground in a marvellous thud on Saturday.

I turned up the obligatory 90 minutes before my flight to be told that due to inclement weather in London, my flight was cancelled. OK… no problem… A good book, some free food and I am fine for my 6 hour wait. It is not the first time I have spent 6 hours in Terminal 2 in Frankfurt… Honest!!!

But what really pressed my buttons the wrong way was that my newly scheduled 2020 flight was delayed by an hour and we weren’t told until someone went and asked why we were still sitting around at 2015.

So in the end I finally made it home at 0030 after getting up at 0530. Exhausted but happy.

Oh yeah… I had a great time in Frankfurt! :)

Moving

September 30, 2006 on 8:25 am | In Travel news, Home, Work | No Comments

Regular reader will know that recently I have been getting around a fair bit. Over the last month my life has slowed down fractionally. So I decided to move house. OK … there were a few reasons: work - I am becoming permanent, travel - save on the time to get to work, cost - save around 200 pounds a month on train tickets, and availability - my current place is disbanding so I needed to move.

So where am I moving to? A town very close to where my grandmother (Mum’s mum) was born. A nice little place called Guildford.

I have also realised that since February last year (when I landed on these fair shores) I have moved house 5 times (including this one). Hopefully this will be the last one for some time! Once I get settled expect some photos of the town in my photo gallery…
